Imitation/Flattery

She was so elegant as she walked the red carpet. She gave her best smile to the crowd, waving her hand occasionally. She bursted out perfect light laugh. She posed for the photographers – swaying slightly on her feet to show her best angle.

She held her breath. She gasped, and laughed.

It was the greatest celebration night. It was also her night. She was beautiful. Everyone was praising her. Everyone wanted to be with her – or to be her – that night. She waved. She smiled. Again.

She was crying inside.

Her mind wandered. She was in the brink of tears.

I did not ask any of this. I have been living someone else’s life. My life is nothing but a fake smile.

She cried.
